GARY PAYTON TRADED TO JBH, KOALAS GET DRAFT PICK
The Yavapai Swashbucklers have traded guard Gary Payton to Jacob's Basketball Hold in exchange for JBH's 2003 first round draft pick (seventh overall) and forward Jamal Mashburn.
To complete an earlier trade dating back to May 14, 2002, the Swashbucklers then immediately traded the acquired JBH draft pick to the Naughty Koalas.
Coach Jacob of JBH announced in connection with the trade his team's intention not to draft any players in this year's MBA fantasy draft.
Payton ranks second in the MBA with 187 fantasy games played (22.95 fppg) and is one of only three players to collect more than 4000 career fantasy points (4279 FP).
Following the trade the Swashbucklers released guard Terrell Brandon and JBH waived forward Donyell Marshall to complete the round of transactions, both teams now with 12 players on the roster.
