The Yavapai Swashbucklers opened the 2008/2009 MBA fantasy season by releasing late season free agent signing Stehpen Jackson, and re-signing 2007 draft pick Spencer Hawes. Hawes is signed to a four-week free agent contract ranging until at least WEEK 4 of the upcoming fantasy season.

Hawes was drafted by coach 3M as the last player in the first round of the 2007 MBA Draft, but was cut from the roster in the playoffs during the Western Conference Finals against the HungerDunkers. He now returns as a part of the future plans for the Yavapai Swashbucklers.

Jackson was signed on the last day of the 2007/2008 regular season, in an attempt to strengthen the team roster for the fantasy playoffs. He played in all three playoffs games for the team, averaging 18.00 FP.
