Do you find it a bit unnerving doctors call what they do practice?

The word "practice", as in a "doctor's practice", owes it's origin to the greek word "praxis", meaning simply "to do" or to exercise a science, an art or other area of professional technique and skill. As opposed to "theoria", the act of pure contemplation, "praxis" in turn expresses the constant workings and givings of the sciences and crafts, that affect us in our daily life.
Since I'd rather have doctors strive for excellence in exercising physicianship than contemplating medical science, I do not find the term "doctor's practice" the least bit unnerving.
